Going PlacesBy Kathryn Berla 4 StarsGoing Places by Kathryn Berla is a YA story that will take you on an emotional roller coaster. This story follows Hudson Wheeler from a child to a young adult in high school. He was told at a young age he was “Going Places.” After the tragic death of his father, he finds himself putting his own needs and desires to the side to care for his mother. Once he becomes a senior in high school, he finds himself wanting to be home schooled and against going to college, but sill wants to become a graphic designer. His mother sets some conditions regarding not attending college and being home schooled for his last year of high school. He must take a few courses (art and yoga) in high school, as per his mom that will help him in life and is future career. In his journey through his last year of high school, he finds himself falling in love and also getting heartbroken along with becoming independent and learning about responsibilities. Kathryn Berla did an amazing job creating the characters in this story, especially Hudson. The story was written in an easy flowing matter and kept me entertained until the end.
